Everyplace _except_ 10 m and now that I look, on 12 m. On 10 m, it's zero. I _Have_ made occasional SSB contacts with Russia, Canada, and Australia on 7 m though.

It is. I was blaming the tuner because pushing random buttons on it made the S meter go down; but I think I just bypassed the antenna. I'm waiting on the elmer who has one to stop by to tell me if this might be normal.

Back on the noise issue.. is there something about the tuner that leads you to believe it's the source? Generally, a passive device like that will not generate noise. As I sent on the air, if anything they will reduce noise if miss-adjusted.

Regarding punctuation.. in some circles (the faster guys), a period is actually frowned upon. So best to get in the habit now of not sending it. Use BT instead.

BTW, you'll find that in normal QSOs, there isn't much punctuation sent except a questionmark. the BT prosign is generally used inbetween sentences
